Psyri and Gazi Are Where Athens Comes Alive After Midnight

Psyri — the grid of narrow streets northwest of the Acropolis — is the tavern-and-bouzouki heart of Athens nightlife. Places like A Liar Man, Six d.o.g.s., and the rebetiko bars on Aisopou fill past midnight. Expect to eat dinner at 10 PM and start drinking afterward.

Gazi further west is the big-room club neighborhood — Lohan Nightclub (yes, that Lohan) and larger dance floors run until 5 AM on summer weekends. Kolonaki serves the more polished cocktail crowd in a compact grid around Dexameni Square.

Greek nightlife starts genuinely late. Arriving at a club before 1 AM means an empty room. Summer rooftop season runs May through October and sees Athens at its best.
