Delphi: Center of the Ancient World
Delphi: Center of the Ancient World
180km northwest in the mountains. The ancient Greeks called it the center of the world. The site climbs Mount Parnassus through the Temple of Apollo, Treasury of the Athenians, and ancient theater, with views over an olive valley to the sea. The museum holds the Charioteer of Delphi — a 478 BC bronze so perfect the inlaid glass eyes still follow you across the room.
Drive 2.5 hours or KTEL bus 3 hours. Full day. The site is steep — real shoes.
